Set a Clear Goal for Your Game

Before you start assigning points, decide what you’re rewarding. Do you want players to:

  • Participate more actively?
  • Help each other out?
  • Show leadership and initiative?
  • Stay organized and on track?

By choosing clear goals, you ensure the game supports the targeted behaviors and keeps everyone focused on shared success. If you are a teacher this is fantastic way to incorporate PBIS initiatives!

Divide Players Into Fun, Balanced Teams

A successful team Game starts with creative and balanced teams. You can divide players randomly, by skill levels, interests, or roles—but make sure team sizes are roughly equal to keep the game fair.

To make your Game even more engaging, take inspiration from some of pop culture’s most iconic team dynamics:

  • Want a house-style setup like in Harry Potter? Create multiple teams that earn points together and build a sense of identity over time.
  • Prefer a system where each team has its own unique strengths? Look to The Hunger Games districts, where every group brings something different to the table.
  • Or go classic with a two-team rivalry, like the Light Side vs. Dark Side in Star Wars, for a simple, competitive format that keeps things exciting.

Of course, while it’s fun to take inspiration from these stories, remember: using actual names, logos, or content from them is not allowed under our Terms of Use. So get creative, put your own spin on it, and make your Game uniquely yours!

To build even more team spirit, let each group:

  • Pick a creative name (like “The Innovators” or “Team Galaxy”)
  • Choose a team color, emoji, mascot, or motto
  • Design a digital badge or icon for Gamably

These extra touches help players feel more connected to their team—and to the Game as a whole.

Celebrate Teams’ Achievements Together

At the end of each week or game cycle, reward the top team—or recognize every team that hits a milestone. Rewards don’t need to be big to be meaningful:

  • Shout-outs during meetings or group chats
  • Custom digital badges or certificates
  • Extra break time or privileges
  • Fun titles like “Team of the Month” in Gamably

Recognition keeps morale high and turns achievements into team wins.

Encourage Team Communication and Spirit

If players are in the same location (like a classroom, office, or club), encourage them to:

  • Huddle up before or after meetings
  • Plan strategies during breaks
  • Celebrate wins together

A team Game is more than a scoreboard—it’s a way to build connection and boost collaboration.
